The Most Sought Dual Program

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering + B.Tech

Eligibility: +2 with Physics. Chemistry & Maths.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) is not just a choice — it’s a mission-critical profession in the aviation ecosystem.

Why is AME so important?

Because no aircraft can take off without the clearance of a licensed AME. Aircraft Maintenance Engineers are the backbone of aviation safety. They inspect, maintain, and certify aircraft — ensuring every flight is safe, reliable, and airworthy. Their signature isn’t just a formality — it’s a legal mandate. This makes the AME license essential, globally recognized, and immensely respected.

Aviation is one of the fastest-growing global industries, offering high-paying, skill-based, and future-ready careers. With air travel increasing across India and worldwide, the demand for certified professionals, such as Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs), is on the rise. At IAE Bhopal, part of the prestigious Sha-Shib Group, you get hands-on training, DGCA-approved curriculum, and access to in-house MROs and live aircraft, all of which give you a competitive edge. If you’re passionate about technology, safety, and aircraft systems, aviation isn’t just a career, it’s a launchpad to a global profession.
A dual program gives you a strong edge in both technical and academic qualifications.

The AME course makes you a complete professional which is the only required mandatory person, as per aircraft law, authorized to certify an aircraft for flying. It is a standalone and unparalleled qualification in the aviation industry for this critical role.
Pursuing an additional academic degree like B.Tech in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, B.Sc in Aviation, or BBA in Aviation Management can significantly enhance your academic profile. It opens doors to broader career options in aviation, such as R&D, airline operations, airport management, aviation safety, and even postgraduate studies.

Employers value candidates who bring both such qualifications to the table.
AME sits at the core of aircraft safety and performance. A DGCA-approved AME licence qualifies you for roles in airlines, MROs and aircraft manufacturers both in India and abroad. You work hands‑on with engines, avionics and airframes, gaining skills that stay in demand as technology evolves. Global airlines and maintenance organisations always need certified engineers, ensuring job security and attractive pay. As you advance, you can move into quality assurance, airworthiness management and leadership roles. At IAE Bhopal, you benefit from real‑world training in our DGCA‑approved MROs and CAMOs, giving you the expertise employers look for.

Yes. Our Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program at IAE Bhopal is fully approved and regulated by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) under CAR‑147 for training organisations for licensing standards. This means:

  • Your training modules, exams and practical assessments follow DGCA‑mandated curricula.
  • Upon successful completion, you’re eligible to appear for DGCA Part‑66 AME licence examinations.
  • The licence you earn is recognised by airlines, MROs and aviation regulators across India and many countries worldwide.

This government backing ensures your qualification meets the highest safety and technical standards in the aviation industry.

Only a DGCA‑licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer can certify an aircraft as airworthy and release it for flight. Academic degrees like B.Tech, M.Tech or Ph.D. demonstrate strong technical knowledge in their respective field, but they do not replace the specific technical expertise and legal license required under DGCA CAR‑66. At IAE Bhopal, we ensure you complete both the theoretical modules and the practical assessments needed to qualify for the Part‑66 AME licence. Once you pass the DGCA examinations and hold your licence, you have the sole authority to sign off on maintenance releases.

An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer inspects, troubleshoots and repairs every aircraft system, including engines, avionics, structures and hydraulics, to ensure every flight meets rigorous safety and performance standards. Without AMEs, airlines and MROs could not maintain their certifications, comply with regulatory audits or uphold passenger trust. At IAE Bhopal, our DGCA-approved training and hands‑on experience in real MRO and CAMO facilities prepare you to assume this critical responsibility from day one.

DGCA requires you to be 18 years old to sit for the licence exams. There is no upper age limit for training, obtaining your AME licence or working as an AME.

This flexible age policy means you can start your AME career when you’re ready and continue as long as you meet health and competency requirements.

Graduates with a DGCA Part‑66 licence find roles across the aviation sector, including:

  • Line and base maintenance at airlines, ensuring daily aircraft safety
  • Overhaul and repair work in DGCA‑approved MROs, gaining deep hands‑on expertise
  • Continuing airworthiness management in CAMOs, handling regulatory compliance and records
  • Technical positions with aircraft manufacturers and component suppliers
  • Inspection and certification roles with civil aviation authorities and airports At IAE Bhopal, our strong industry links and in‑house MROs and CAMOs help you secure placements with leading airlines, maintenance organisations and aviation regulators in India and overseas.

Yes. Holding an AME licence gives you strong technical knowledge, but it does not replace the CPL licence requirements. To start CPL training, you must:

  • Be at least 17 years old and hold a Class 1 medical certificate
  • Have completed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics
  • Finish DGCA‑approved ground school and requisite flight hours at a recognised flying school

Your AME background makes theoretical subjects like aerodynamics and aircraft systems easier to master. Many students choose to complete AME first for deeper technical insight, then switch to pilot training. Under the Sha‑Shib Group, we operate Sha‑Shib Flying Academy, a DGCA‑approved flying training organisation in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, to help you seamlessly transition from maintenance to the cockpit.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation is the sole authority empowered to issue the Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licence in India. All DGCA‑approved training organisations, including IAE Bhopal, conduct theory and practical exams as per CAR‑66 standards. Once you pass these exams and meet the experience requirements, DGCA’s Headquarters or its Regional Airworthiness Offices will process and dispatch your licence, which is recognised by airlines, MROs and regulators worldwide.

Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) covers all activities needed to keep an aircraft airworthy throughout its life. It includes line maintenance for routine checks between flights, base maintenance for in‑depth inspections and major repairs, and component overhaul to restore parts to service standards.

MRO plays a pivotal role in your AME journey:
